The vision of the School is to produce trained midwives who are competent, skilled and always available to provide maternal and infant medical services at all tiers of health care delivery. And in addition, the philosophy of the School is that it expected to be a centre of academic excellence where students-midwives will be trained to serve existing health and educational institutions in the country, and as well contribute to Medical Nursing and Midwifery research. It is also the intention of the School to produce those midwives that will be well-grounded in modern medical practice, and be spiritually grounded in equal measure. It is this that formed our desire to establish the School. When it is in full operation, the School will take care of all, without regard to race, creed, religion, ethnic or tribal consideration. Above all, it is the objective of the School to give qualitative education to student-midwives whose services will be required at our health institutions and in general health care. Right now, the School has commence classes. Facilities that are capable of enhancing high level midwifery education are already in place. Such facilities include seasoned academic and administrative personels, spacious lecture-rooms, demonstration room for clinical instruction, laboratory, library, computer-room, staff offices and rooms, pipe-borne water supply, 24-hour supply of electricity, a hostel for accommodation (with facility for expansion), ultramodern dinning and assembly halls with capacity for 150 persons, a functioning sick bay and a general practice hospital with 40-bed installed capacity.
The school runs on departmental system leading to the award of the midwifery certificate. The departments, for the delivery of affective midwifery education, include Anatomy and Physiology, Nursing Services, Behavioral and Basic Sciences as well as Midwifery Education. Because of the cosmopolitan nature of Saki, Students come from as far away places as Benin Republic, Togo, Ghana and from almost all the states of the Nigerian Federation. With all these in place, it is hoped that the School would in no distant future, bring about a drastic reduction in maternal and infant mortality rate in Nigeria and Oyo State in general, and in Oke-Ogun area of Oyo State in particular..
